GETTING HELP WITH OUR NEW WEBSITE

Many of our resources have been moved, making them more clearly defined and easier to use. Continue to read below to find out more.

The Council for a Livable World is in the process of overhauling its website to better serve our constituents, and to increase our ability to cultivate a citizens lobby that pressures Congress to eliminate weapons of mass destruction. Our new website is split into four main sections.

Issues Guide

The Council works on many different issues that pertain to weapons of mass destruction, the Issues Guide breaks down each topic into a number of quickly read sections that provide recent legislative history, background, and talking points to ensure that long-time constituents know the latest information, and the novice can get up-to-date as quickly as possible.

Candidate Guide

Since its inception the Council has endorsed and supported Congressional candidates that oppose the stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons. Our Candidate Guide provides background on the candidates that we support and an archive of our voting records. Our voting records are currently being converted into electronic copies so that we can provide them back to the mid-1980s.

Who We Are

Learn more about our history and role in the arms control movement, who our staff and board members are, and biographical information on the Manhatten Scientist that founded the Council, Leo Szilard.

Advocacy

Throughout the year, every year, the Congress makes decisions that have a profound effect on the future of nuclear weapons. Periodically, we inform our supports of this Congressional activity, and provide them with tools to make their advocacy efforts easier and more effective.
